How Does the 10c Refund Scheme Work at Recycling Depots in Adelaide?

November 28, 2021

The 10c refund scheme is a revolutionary scheme aimed at promoting recycling in Adelaide. It’s a statewide recycling scheme that’s concerned with bottled waste.

The refund scheme simply gets you a 10c refund when you return or deposit the bottles or cans of beverages you’ve bought at recycling depots.

Imagine all the bottled and canned goods you’ve consumed in the past week alone? Getting a 10c refund on them will assist you with sorting some bills. Are you interested already? Here’s how it works at recycling depots in Adelaide :

Keep Your Bottles

Most of the things you have to do to access the refund scheme are to keep your bottles. This is because beverage bottles are the only acceptable items you can refund - beverage bottles such as milk bottles or containers, wine or juice bottles etc.

You’ll be using most of these bottles in your Adelaide home, so getting them shouldn’t be too hard.

What you do with the bottles while you’re gathering them is what matters. First, you need to ensure that you dump all the liquids in your bottles before you start placing them in your recycling bin.

Fluids aren’t permitted in recycled bottles, so you need to make sure they’re all empty. You should also rinse out the beverage bottles as you’re recycling them.

Try your best to keep your bottles in good condition, don’t crush them or keep punctured or broken bottles in your pile. Heavy bottles should be kept separate from lighter bottles as they can crush them.

Note: Don’t store too many bottles at a time- once your bottle or sack is getting too heavy, take them to the recycling depot. After you’ve recycled all the bottles you can, then you go to the recycling depot.

Recycling Depot Trip

This stage comes next if you already have an Adelaide recycling depot you already patronise. However, if you’re still looking for recycling depots to use, take note of these things:

  • Go for recycling depots that are near to you. Driving to your recycling depot should never take too long as this can discourage you.

  • Look at pickup options. You should look at recycling depots that can come to your location and pick up your recyclable items. It makes the whole process easier if you’re too tired to make the depot trip.

Once you’ve found the best recycling depot for you, drop off your recycled beverages.

Get Your Cash

After you’ve dropped off your bottles, you’ll be getting paid. So make the most of your recycling depot trips by making your bottles plenty; you’ll be getting more cash in fewer trips.

To benefit from the 10c refund scheme at recycling depots, simply take your beverage bottles to them, and get ready to receive cash.

You can introduce this scheme into your household, company or school to increase morale and benefit from the cash incentives.
